Lifestyle then and now - A compartive study BY: Ruhushana , Ghaazee School, Hulhumale' Grade 10S2

THE LAVISH LIFESTYLE
As the days are passing by, our lifestyles are also passing by. When we see a better style we are saying ‘adios’ to our previous lifestyle. Cell phones, high-tech devices, fast food, microwaves, plastics, these are just a few many modern day lifestyle conveniences which we use every day. Our lives have changed dramatically over the past 100 years.
Going back to the days of the 60’s, we had to live without electricity. However, in a blink of an eye this has changed. A life without electricity would be difficult for us to fathom. Along with the electricity, the once-empty sites are covered with tall buildings. To me, it seems more like the building blocks I used to play with while I was in kindergarten. As the buildings are rising, people are competing with each other in this field. Without a doubt, the life style nowadays is bizarre.
While our great-grand fathers lived on the Earth, they communicated by sending letters to each other by a pigeon. But now, we find it absurd. Why send letters when we have cell phones and many other networks? Likewise, it is amazing how people walked as a way of transportation and did not suffer from most of the diseases we know today. Albeit, they didn’t have many options back then, since there weren’t cars, buses or bikes. There were just feet.
In the present world, the one which has changed the most is our clothing. Most of us would believe that the clothes which our ancestors used to wear were a laughing stock.
To conclude, I would like to highlight that there was a time when we used to listen to slow songs. Back then, the bands would perform music casually, often with a guitar. But today, we are living in a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. We are living in the most enchanted lifestyle imaginable. We surely aren’t crawling nowadays, we are flying.
