Letter By: Shaaif Thoufeq, Iskandhar School, Male' Grade 10S1

Your Teacher recently planned a special trip to an uninhabited island for your class. During the weekend, you were able to take part in various activities that you normally do not do at school. Write a letter to your friend explaining:- • Where you went • What you and your classmates thought of the activity weekend • Any funny or sad incident Dear Robinson, Just a quick letter to let you know about my trip to the New World. As you know, I had butterflies in my tummy, but it turned out to be a very excitingly enjoyable trip. The others were pretty friendly and caring too. And by others, I meant my classmates. You know that, as a couch potato, I wouldn’t want to go on school trips a lot. Anyhow, the teacher told us we were going to be graded on our attendance to this trip to the uninhabited island, and since I’m a little down in my studies, I thought it would be a good idea to come. We stayed in some kind of a cabin, which was rustic and weed-grown. Fortunately, we came with some tents and portable water-beds, so we didn’t have to worry. Each day I chose a different activity from an incredibly varied program. On Friday, I’d be hiking around the New World, and on Saturday I’ll be trying to fish Barracudas from the reef. Speaking of fishes, you’d never guess what I caught. It was a red-finned crestiflarious! (That’s English for Specilipicanthropi) The sad thing was that the 10-feet long fish was able to sink its teeth into my right leg. The Chaperone, Mr.Faisal, said it wasn’t fatal, but I wouldn’t be expected to use my injured leg too soon. Even now, I’m stuck in my bed, trying to write this letter to you. But don’t worry; I’ve been in worse situations before, as you know. Letting go of the grudge against Crestiflarious, the activity weekend was fun for all of us, and I’m sure our class is going to be bragging about this trip for a whole month! I hope we would be able to do mire kinds of activities like this, because I’m sure everyone would love it, including you! It’s really stimulating, and you get to do a lot of things you surely can’t do at school. As for me, I don’t think I’ll be attending school for a month, thanks to this leg. Love, Crusoe
